Swami Rock is a large rock formation in the middle of Nilaveli Beach that is popular with divers and snorkelers. Boat travel time: 25 minutes.<\/h4>\n<p>A mysterious iron built ship, about 90 metres in length, that sank in shallow waters, now provides an established underwater habitat.<\/p>\n<p>It has succumbed to quite a bit of damage and attracted treasure hunters due to its accessibility, however the bow, stern, and propellor can be easily identified. Very little is known about this wreck. Three anchors were found, but no records of the owners of the vessel were ever discovered.<\/p>\n<p>The historical mystery of the wrecks has not deterred the local wildlife from making this wreck theirs. It is possible to see, amongst others, groupers, morays, octopus, trevally, bat fish, and anemonefish.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Pigeon Island (Deep 7-15m)&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1678784584692-25e0d754-4cac&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4>Depth 7-15 meters. Boat travel time: 10 minutes.<\/h4>\n<p>A highlight of the East Coast, Pigeon Island is one of only two marine National Parks in Sri Lanka, and is consequently one of the most famous dive sites in the area.<\/p>\n<p>It offers a relaxing dive experience, in shallow waters, for all dive abilities. During the dive you may see moray eels, puffer fish, porcupine fish, nudibranchs, shrimp, lobsters, and many colorful schools of fish.<\/p>\n<p>The surface interval can be spent on the island, relaxing in the shade of the trees. haven for shoaling fish.<\/p>\n<p>A great dive site of both wildlife and historical interest. And for those with suitable training, penetrating the wrecks is also possible, adding to the experience.<\/p>\n<p>Tip: Check out the cannon barrels to try to spot the moray eels that have now taken up residence.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Navy Island&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1714220831098-c22d8f1f-0481&#8243;][vc_column_text]Very close to the Trincomalee town. Navy Island is a rock formation sticking out of the water and going to about 10 meters of dept. It has rocky walls and an L shaped small cave, which if you follow will lead forwards the surface. Divers will find morays, garden eels, mantis shrimp and shoals of blue striped snaper, table corals and many more. Is around 50 minutes by boat from the dive center.
